Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is an enigmatic artist, performer and composer. The singer combines soul gospel jazz and R&B in a distinct mixture. Her career path has taken her across Broadway to European concerts and festivals to even at the Democratic National Convention. Her real name is Denise White. She hails from Chester Pennsylvania, where she started her musical career by playing piano and singing in the church. She was a student at Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her musical apprenticeship in the Atlanta's R&B scene. The Fighting Temptations The first single with her vocals was Stalk You a house 12 issued exclusively in Japan; it has since been remixed by a variety of producers and has become an essential part of her live sets. Her voice was also featured in the music video for The Fighting Temptations. She was appointed as the primary keyboardist in Tyler Perry's musical Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy- and Tony Award winning vocalist who had worked on the stage production Dreamgirls at the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, approached her about being the choir leader of this theatrical production. Sunshine was the subject of national media attention due to her four daily performances during the Democratic National Convention in 2008. She was invited to perform at Obama's inaugural ceremony in 2009.
